Homework & Fun: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  1. What is a "Homework Helper"?
These are sites that specialize in helping you get your homework done. They are free and they are usually very helpful. BetaWeb is building our own Homework Helper database which is available now under the section "Beta Help Forums". It will take a few months to get enough information in our database so that is will be helpful, so we've included some excellent national site in the iterim.

  2. What's a "Multi-Lingual Translator"?
You type in some text -- a word, a paragraph, a paper. We pass the data to Altavista's language translation system and "viola", a complete translation appears. English to French, Spanish, Italian, German & Portugese -- or those languages back to English. It's neat.

  3. What's in "Interactive Games"?
These are fun (and educational) games that are favorites with us. Try them out. Have some that we could use? Let us know.

  4. What is "Find-A-Beta"?
Everyone with a "handle" is automatically entered in the BetaWeb "Who's Who" system. You can find anyone by simply typing in their handle. You can also search for other Betas by typing in keywords that describe their hobbies and interests (these come from your "keywords" and "hobbies and interests" sections you completed in your "on-line Resume").

  5. What is the BetaWeb's "Acceptable Use Policy"?
The BetaWeb represents the high ideals and reputation of the National Beta Club. In order to insure that users of BetaWeb find the content of the site always in "good taste", we have created an "Acceptable Use Policy" that must be adhered to by all users of the BetaWeb. If you haven't looked at it, take a look now. Abuses of the Acceptable Use Policy will result in revocation of BetaWeb privileges.
BetaWeb incorporates a "content filter" that is meant to catch particularly offensive words, phrases and links. Of course it won't catch everything. We leave it up to you, users of BetaWeb to keep ALL your content in "good taste".

  6. What happens if someone else is using my password?
If we discover that 2 different people are using 1 password, we will disable the password and ID until the issue is resolved. You will then need to call the national office at (864)583-4553 during regular business hours.
